“So since you’ve sold over 10,000 copies of your book YGOD does that mean you’re filthy rich?” This was a question I got from an 8th grader at Capistrano Valley Christian school when I visited to speak and answer questions. As a young apologist, sometimes I get asked questions I don’t know the answer to, but this one was kind of unexpected.
The truth is I haven’t seen any Benjamins lately and I suspect it’s my publisher that’s making off with all the cash (Regal Publishing, are you listening?)
But seriously, it was a great experience at Capistrano Valley Christian school. I was invited by Sean McDowell, son of the famous apologist Josh McDowell. Sean has established his own amazing reputation as an author, apologist, and educator. He serves as the head of the Bible Department at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools where he teaches Philosophy, Theology, and Apologetics. He is currently working on his PhD in Apologetics and Worldview studies. You can check out his website at http://www.seanmcdowell.org/index.php. He is a favorite among the students at CVC and we had a great time engaging the students in philosophical debate.
While at CVC I was asked great questions about the writing process, religion, and Jesus. I got to talk to several 11th and 12th grade classes and a few 8th grade classes. The students and I were able to relate on both intellectual and personal levels which was awesome.
